My Acne Journey
I have suffered from chronic acne for the past 5 years. I have tried everything there is in the market to keep my acne at bay but to no avail. My acne kept coming back and each time, it became worse than the last time. It came to a point when I started to lose my confidence. I hated when people look at my face whenever I was out. Long story short, my acne journey was a nightmare. I wasn't a pimply teenager growing up so I was caught off guard when I suffered from severe acne in my 30s. It started when I was still working as a customer service associate in a BPO company. It was mild at first. I got pimples here and there but they eventually went away after a few days. However, when I finally decided to resign from my last job, it became insufferable. At that time, we were in the process of moving in to our new home. We personally cleaned up our place after we had some renovations done. It was a really dusty experience so it further worsened my acne. I tried using organic stuff I saw online that can help alleviate acne. I tried making different masks using honey, lemon, apple cider and cinnamon. It didn't help a bit. I saw some people online who used them and did wonders on their skin but not to mine. I also tried putting toothpaste on each pimple. Nothing worked so I resorted to a more aggressive approach. I heard that Mario Badescu drying lotion is a miracle worker especially on pesky zits so I bought one from Rustan's around July 2019. Sure enough, it did dry out my pimples overnight but it did not stop my pimples from reproducing. They just keep coming back like a bitch.
Come August of the same year, I posted a story on Instagram, filters and all but my biggest zit was still visible.
I was so frustrated and so pissed. I didn't understand why these products didn't work. Before Mario Badescu, I also tried the tea tree oil from The Body Shop and that didn't even budge a single zit on my face. In fact, it made the condition of my face worse than it already was. I also tested Celeteque products for acne treatment. I even used acne products from Human Nature too. Suffice to say that I tried everything there is to make my pimples go away but all my efforts were futile. Here's the condition of my face 4 years ago:
It was the worst and I know it may sound too superficial but it made me feel down a few times. Until I discovered Beautéderm last October 2019. This skincare line has been receiving so much rave online. I have contemplated on buying a set for a long time but it was too pricey for me. I was worried the products would only go to waste if they wouldn't work like they're supposed to. The products looked promising and I am so happy I trusted my gut because it made my acne go away! I still have pimple marks which are really hard to diminish but overtime, I saw a huge improvement! Here are some of my photos now that I am using Beautéderm products. You be the judge
I am beyond grateful to these products!!! My confidence is boosted for sure. I am sharing my journey no matter how embarrassing the before photos are in order to help those who are also suffering from chronic or hormonal acne. Everything that I shared here are my own experiences so take it with a grain of salt. But you'll never know which ones will work on you or not until you try out some products too. I hope you too will be able to discover the products that will work best on your skin. Because everyone deserves to be comfortable in their own skin, literally!
